Some movies are better than their trailer. The trailer for this movie was quite good, but alas, the movie went downhill from the moment it started.

The movie lacked excitement despite the money spent on pyrotechnics. Even when there was supposed to be a rush of blood the exhilaration levels never peaked above average.

The screenplay, written by James V Simpson probably looked quite good on paper. The twists and turns were not as we were led to believe would happen as the movie went in different directions when we expected standard issue actions with consequences.

The $20 million budget must have been spent mainly on the special-effects because 50% of the movie was filmed in once small location.

The pace of the music was fine, it was just that the music was not particularly enthralling. The repetitive bass lines from an arpegiator led to a sense of boredom for both the background music and the supposed action-packed movie.

It’s not known if the director took the movie down a different route to the one expected by the writer, but we certainly appear to end up with a plot that went round and round in circles. A few plot holes arrived here and there, which would probably only be noticed because nothing else of any consequence was going on.

I expect the original synopsis made for good reading. It’s a shame that it went the way it did.
