This isn’t a movie for the faint hearted and those who are troubled by swearing and cursing in almost every other sentence. This is a movie for those who want full-out belly laughs all the way through.

I first saw this movie on a long flight. I watched it again on the way back home. I finally saw it on a full sized screen and it didn’t deteriorate in quality or amusement at any stage.

We always laugh at our politicians these days. Long gone are the days when we believed politicians were in their employment for the greater good of their local community, the region or their country. Nowadays we know it’s a stepping stone to celebrity status, a reality show or a place on several company’s board of directors.

In The Loop explores the banal way the public are manipulated by the teams behind the politicians ‘face.’ These are the citizens who write the speeches and the real people who make policy while ignoring what either the public really want or what’s good for their team/party.

Written by Jesse Armstrong, Simon Blackwell, Armando Iannucci, Tony Roche and Ian Martin (additional material) these screenwriters have picked apart the political system and showed it for what it really is and what it is depends upon your own opinion.

The mix of both British and American governments brings focus to the ‘special relationship.’

Many characters are made out to be either completely obnoxious, total buffoons or oblivious to anything going on around them.

110 minutes of this movie are quite simply not enough. You’ll sit there constantly amazed at the way people talk to each other (an expert screenwriter’s guide to dialogue).
