4 stars****

Chemistry is the most important factor for a leading couple. You’ve really got to believe in their emotional attachment. This Knight and Day movie has it in abundance with the two lead stars; the recent movie Killers had an almost total lack of it. This explains why Killers remains an average movie while this gibberish screenplay comes through with flying colors.
So what’s it all about?
Miller (Cruise) is a secret agent who goes on a blind date with unlucky-in-love June Havens (Diaz), and ends up pulling her into a serious yet comedic journey to protect a powerful battery that holds the key to an infinite power source.
You’ll need to check your active energy brain at the door to the theatre. There are so many scenes which will leave you in total disbelief that you’ll wonder if anything in the movie is really likely. Quickly your brain will recognize that while the movie makes wild leaps with possibilities that aren’t, of course, possible, that you don’t mind because everything else fits so well.
The budget was high, around $125 million which means that it’ll be difficult to get back into profit, but word of mouth should aid this movie. It’s so silly that you’ll believe anything is achievable.
The screenplay writer is listed as Patrick O’Neill, but eleven others helped in various rewrites of the original. Due to this high number, only the original writer gained the credit.
Tom Cruise is his usual self. You know exactly what you’re going to get and the same goes for Cameron Diaz. The smile still looms miles wide as the cast mix dangerous spy missions with comedy. It works.
