This couldn’t really happen, could it?

I know from experience that it can. There’s a film in production just now for which I wrote the synopsis and detailed treatment. The director concerned hired me as a writer to present a complete set of writing for them. The person in question then scribed their name to the project and it is now their copyright. They hired me and the contract stated the outcome, which is why no-one will ever know, from me, the name of the screenplay or the movie. That’s the deal they wanted so that’s the deal they got.

I was very pleased with the final version as it was in a subject field that I knew so little about, but the research brought many revelations and made the whole project so enjoyable. It was a screenplay to be proud of, but it won’t win me an award.

Ghost-writing is known more in the field of biographies and sometimes novels.
