Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging (2008)
The film title is the first thing that hits you right between the eyes; Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. That’s not the kind of title you come to expect!
The film is taken from Louise Rennison’s Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging, the first in a series of eleven teenage angst diary books, so this franchise could run longer than Harry Potter.
Those Brits certainly are making the best movies at the moment.
The books are similar in design to Bridget Jones’s diaries (which made immense films), but this time from the point of view of a teenager.
The movie is a comedy that will have you rocking in your theatre seat. It’s a coming-of-age story – a very British take on American high school movies like Clueless and Mean Girls.
Director, Gurinda Chadha, who brought us the wonderful Bride and Prejudice and the most excellent Bend It Like Beckham has brought her great skills to this movie which is released now, 25th July in the UK and across Europe and various different parts of the world later this year, with dates still to be set for the US.
The screenplay is by Gurinder Chadha with Paul Mayeda Berges, Will McRobb and Chris Viscardi with Georgia Groome in the star role.
