Screenplay

Actors, directors and crew won’t agree as obviously their tasks in making a film are much more important, but unless the script is a near perfect piece of writing (some will say it must be perfect) then good will not follow. An average script can be made a good film by the director and crew, the editing and the marketing, but not great. A poor script can’t be made into anything worth the public’s time and trouble to pay for and watch it however good the actors are. A great script starts the process of a great film. If a great script is acted by average actors with an average director and average crew, it’ll still be better than a poor script acted by brilliant actors with mastermind directors and editors.

Rules always have exceptions; a top actor will still make a poor script and film a success purely by adding their name to a project. However, the public will remember when their next film comes out and that might be with a quality script.

They say that sportsman can’t be trained to be great, great sportsman start with great natural skills. Scriptwriting can be learnt, but if you spend too much time gaining knowledge and not enough time writing, procrastination and his brother, defeat, will arrive in quick succession. Film and movie making deserve great scripts.
