Aamir Abdullah, Director, School of Cinema, Asian School of Media Studies address the new students at Orientation program, he says, “As a Director of School of Cinema my piece of advice to you all as you embark on a new phase in your life is that if you want to be a filmmaker it’s not that somebody gives you a camera and you can shoot a film, in order to be a filmmaker you have to be aware of your surroundings, you have to be aware of the issues that are surrounding you that’s because a filmmaker gets his ideas from people, he gets his ideas from streets so my suggestion to you all would be read as much as you can because actually, you get your ideas from it’s not that somebody give you a camera and you can shoot a film. Watch as many films as you can. Filmmaking is all about planning you have to be prepared again I said you have to have everything on paper first, the entire film has to be on paper before you go on a shoot.
The content is the king, no matter how good the cinematography is no matter how beautifully you light up your film but what matters the most is content”.
