Cinematic Dark Short Film (Sony A6500, Sigma 16mm)

We finally finished off our 2nd short film!

All bar a few props and some clothes from the local charity shop, it was done on a super-low budget. and we pretty much filmed the whole thing in one room.

The entire film was shot on the Sony A6500 & Sigma 16mm 1.4 (my second lens purchase after the Sigma 30mm 1.4).

This worked perfectly seeing as we didn’t have much room to work with and the 30mm would have been just a tiny bit too tight.

We tried to block out the light coming through the window so we could control all the lighting ourselves (which again was all lit with cheap LED lights, which I’ve done a video on here We also just used a desktop lamp in the beginning scenes. In general we wanted the whole thing to have a real low-key moody feel.

The music / score was provided by the very talented Oliver Smith (one of the actors in the film). Considering he and Dayle have no previous acting experience I think they both do a pretty solid job!

This was such good fun to film and I think/hope a definite step up from our first film which you can check out here:

Take a look and see if you agree?
