Vote for Hottest Movie Star of the Year!

It is an exciting day for us here at Clevver. We are the first ever official digital media partner for the 2014 and 2015 Critics Choice Awards, and we will be bringing you all kinds of pre and post awards show coverage at from this years event which will be aired on January 16th on the CW Network. The Critics Choice Awards have historically been the most accurate predictors of which actors and movies will land nominations at the big show, The Academy Awards. And as exciting as this partnership is for us, we are equally excited to bring you the highlights of this years Critics Choice Nominations. Leading the pack, with a tie of 13 nominations are both 12 Years A Slave and American Hustle. 12 Years A Slave seems to be a front runner across many awards shows, and for the Critics Choice Awards it landed nominations for Best Picture, Best Actor for Chiwetel Ejiofor, Best Supporting Actor for Michael Fassbender, Best Supporting Actress for Lupita Nyong’o, Best Acting Ensemble, and Best Director for Steve McQueen. American Hustle also swept the nominations and got in on a Best Picture nod, with Christian Bale landing a spot in both the Best Actor and Best Actor in a Comedy category and Jennifer Lawrence scoring a spot for Best Supporting Actress. Bradley Cooper was nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Amy Adams got recognized for her stellar performance as Best Actress in a Comedy. Coming in at a close second for overall honors, Gravity impressed with ten nominations including for Best Picture. Sandra Bullock unsurprisingly got nominated for both Best Actress and for Best Actress in an Action Movie for her “out of this world” performance as Dr. Ryan Stone. With six nominations, movies like The Wolf of Wall Street, Her, Captain Phillips, and Nebraska all got recognized and so did The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug which received 5 nominations. But one of the best things about the Critics Choice Awards is that they honor action movies, and the five nominees for this years Best Action Movie were The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Iron Man 3, Lone Survivor, Rush, and Star Trek Into Darkness. Man of Steel got some recognition too with Henry Cavill getting a nomination for Best Actor in an Action Movie, and so did Robert Downey Jr, Brad Pitt and Mark Wahlberg. Gwyneth Paltro also got nominated for Best Actress in an Action Movie for Iron Man 3, alongside Jennifer Lawrence for Catching Fire, and Evangeline Lilly for The Desolation of Smaug. And for a complete list of nominees, check out the link in the description. Now, the critics aren’t the only ones voting this year! We want you all to get in on the action so head on over to where you can weigh in on who you think is the “Hottest Star” of the year. So, what did you think about this years Critic’s Choice nominees?
