DJI Stories – Live Broadcast From a Volcano

DJI Stories – Live Broadcast From a Volcano

Join DJI and ABC’s Good Morning America in Iceland as they live-broadcast a flight over the Holuhraun volcano eruption in the Bardarbunga volcanic system to 6 million GMA viewers.

Using out-of-the-box Inspire 1 quadcopters, DJI’s Director of Aerial Imaging Eric Cheng, and ace pilot Ferdinand Wolf brave the harsh winter in Iceland, joining an offroad, super-jeep caravan for many hours before arriving at the eruption site. From there, Eric and Ferdinand work with ABC live-broadcast engineers to connect the Inspire 1 to a satellite broadcast system, enabling a real-time view into the volcano in high-definition video.

The trip to Iceland also provided a great opportunity for Eric and Ferdinand to pilot prototype Phantom 3 quadcopters over the volcano to capture 4K footage for the Phantom 3 videos recently released as part of the product launch.
